Jeremy M. Tjia

Originally a native of Southern California, Jeremy Tjia moved to Northern Virginia in 2012 to attend Patrick Henry College and to pursue a career on Capital Hill. When he realized that a life in politics was not what he wanted, he pivoted to the study of the law and matriculated at the College of William & Mary’s Law School. He was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 2021 and practices as an associate attorney at Bartlett & Spirn, where he had clerked for 2 years while he was a student.
He currently participates in the firm’s estate planning and administration, real estate, business law, and litigation matters.
His real estate practice includes reviewing contracts for residential and commercial real estate transactions, preparing deeds and settlement statements, performing title examinations, and providing escrow services. He has also drafted estate plans, including trust-based plans, wills, medical directives, and powers of attorney. He also assists in the firm’s estate and trust administration matters by contacting beneficiaries and heirs-at-law, liquidating assets, and preparing any required filings in court or with the Commissioner of Accounts.
Before joining the firm, Jeremy interned with the Hon. Constance H. Frogale and the Hon. Uley N. Damiani of the Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court for the City of Alexandria, Virginia, and with the Hon. Joseph F. Saporito, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Jeremy has also had a long history of involvement in “forensics” activities such as speech and debate, moot court and mock trial. In 2019, he and a fellow student serving as “co-counsel” won the national title at the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition, hosted by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) Law Foundation (NLF).
He remains involved on the national planning committee of the Tang Competition, where he assists in tournament planning, recruitment, and events logistics. Prior to assuming this role, he had volunteered as a teaching assistant (while a student) and judge-coach (after graduating) for his fellow W&M classmates who competed. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg. To make an appointment with Mr. Tija, please call 757-229-1910, or email him at jeremy@bartlettspirn.com.
